José Manuel López (ultrafondista-triatleta)Español

José Manuel, ultra Spanish coachman in which he has performed various tests worthy of admiration, especially almost impossible for many of us. He recently participated in the Deca Iron Man held in Italy. There are 10 Ironmans in 10 days. If doing just one of them is extremely difficult, let's imagine it. 10. Currently has other ultra fund projects for 2012. We appreciate your time to complete this interview and we wish you the best of luck. God bless you, the Procycling family wishes you

 1-What is your first name?
   My name is José Manuel.

2-Where and in what year were you born?
I was born in the city of Barcelona in the year 1970, 41 years ago.

3-Are you natural of which country?
I am a native of Spain.

4-How did you relate to triathlon?
He was a competitive swimmer from the time he was 17 until he was 17; I made a break of 20 years and 5 ago that I do triathlon.

5-You recently competed in an event called Deca Iron Man, could you explain how interest arises in participating in the event?
I have been doing humanitarian sports projects for several years, such as crossing to Africa swimming, pedaling and running through the desert for 3 days to go to fix a hospital, or crossing the Balearic Islands in 4 days to raise money to fix some boats in the delta of Paraná ( Argentina) but with the economic crisis that there is in Spain this year there was no possibility of helping in any project so I took it as personal preparation and I looked for some test of about 5 or 6 days and I did not find more than this one of 10. There I signed up for the DECA IRONMAN, 10 Ironman in 10 days.

6-Briefly, summarize what was the preparation for that event?
The preparation was excessive because I was already enrolled in several competitions when I decided to participate in the DECA. I trained 4 IRONMAN followed in the Balearic Islands, traveling by boat to the next island after each IRON. I was accompanied by a heat wave and it was very hard. A week I made the Ultraman of Wales (10 kms, swimming, 420 kms bike and 84 kms running, a little more than 2 Ironman) and 10 days another Ironman in my land, Mallorca. And after 10 days the DECA so I arrived exhausted before I started. In a month and a half I made 17 IRONMAN ... exhausting !!!

 7-How many participants competed?
We were 19 participants from all over the world

8- How many managed to finish it?
We managed to finish it 12 companions.

9-Was there a regular time to finish each day?
We had 24 hours to finish it, although that meant not sleeping naaaada.

10-The same is 10 days of continuous race, was there a time when you thought that you could not continue due to the accumulated fatigue?
Yes, I hurt myself strongly in the Achilles heel at 150 kms. by bike and I thought seriously about leaving the 1st day, and the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th ... even in the 10th.

11-How did you feel when the event ended?
These types of tests, just the fact of finalizing it, you can consider yourself the winner. All finishers are victors.

12-Could you mention any anecdote while you were in the middle of the race?
We all commented on the hardness of this edition in which we began to compete with a very high temperature and ended with hail, a lot of rain and even snow at 50 kms. of the place of the competition.

13-To whom do you dedicate this victory?
To all the people who support me and follow me, especially my wife and my children who support my absence during so many hours of training.

13-What will your future plans be for 2012?
Continuing with the Ultradistance, make the return to Mallorca swimming, about 400 kms. in 12 days and several ultra-fund projects with bicycle and also running.

14-Before finalizing, what message do you want to send to all our readers?
Enjoy everything you do! I feel privileged to be able to do sports ... and to go through my blog www.mojatecontracorriente.blogspot.com God bless you !!
